Apostle Joshua Selman is calling for unity amid strong criticism against Nigerian gospel artist Ebuka Songs for allegedly “making fun of” spiritual practices like speaking in tongues and prophecy.

He wants Christians to respect different ways of sharing the Good News rather than forcing everyone to do things the same way.

The who story started when Ebuka Songs appeared in a video with a young content creator, jokingly imitating spiritual experiences like prophetic words and emotional worship.

Several Nigerian pastors quickly condemned the act as “a disrespect to the work of the Holy Spirit.” One critic said: “Many things you call the work of God come from Satan. That person is pretending to cry and show emotions because they don’t know who they are.”

In a sermon, Apostle Joshua Selman used a fishing example to show that different people need different approaches to evangelism: “There are many kinds of fish, just like there are many kinds of people. Some are easy to reach and accept the Gospel. Others are hard to win over because they like to argue. Some are even dangerous, like cult members. You can’t win a fighter the same way you win a kind person.”

Selman strongly opposes judging ministries based on their style or audience: “Respect the woman who ministers to other women. Some women will only open up to another woman who says, ‘I understand your pain.’
