The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has made history by appointing Advocate Botrus Mansour as its new Secretary General and CEO.
Mansour, an Arab Christian leader from Nazareth, will be the first Arab Christian to lead the global organization, which represents over 600 million Evangelicals across 148 countries.Mansour’s appointment follows a thorough six-month search process that began with 25 candidates.
He will officially take office at the WEA’s General Assembly in Seoul, South Korea, scheduled for October 27-31, 2025. The assembly’s theme, “The Gospel for Everyone by 2033,” reflects the organization’s commitment to spreading the message of Jesus Christ worldwide.WEA Council Chair Dr. Goodwill Shana praised the selection process, saying it was marked by diligence, transparency, and prayer. Shana expressed confidence that Mansour would bring servant leadership and strengthen collaboration within the evangelical movement.
Mansour expressed humility and gratitude for the trust placed in him. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the WEA’s vision.
“With God’s grace, I will work tirelessly to remove obstacles to our unity and rally behind the vision of ‘The Gospel for Everyone by 2033,'” he said.
As a seasoned leader, Mansour brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Born in Nazareth in 1965, he has served as operational director of Nazareth Baptist School since 2004 and was ordained as an elder in 2001.
He holds a law degree from Hebrew University and an MBA in nonprofit management from Haifa University.
Mansour’s appointment marks a significant milestone for the WEA, and his leadership is expected to strengthen the organization’s global impact.
