Ukraine midfielder Georgiy Sudakov’s Kyiv apartment was severely damaged in a Russian drone strike on September 6-7, 2025, while his wife and child were at home.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries to his family. Sudakov, 23, is currently with Ukraine’s national team preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.

The attack was part of a larger-scale assault by Russia, involving 805 drones and 13 missiles, of which Ukraine’s air force intercepted 751. Unfortunately, four people were killed and 44 injured in the attacks.

Sudakov shared photos and videos of the aftermath on Instagram, describing the impact on his home.

The apartment building, located in Kyiv’s Svyatoshyns’kyi district, suffered significant damage, with upper storeys blackened, smoking, and debris scattered across the street and parked cars.

Sudakov previously spoke about the challenges of playing football during wartime, citing the psychological strain of being away from his family while they face danger in Kyiv.

As a player for Benfica, Sudakov’s experience highlights the human cost of the ongoing conflict.

Ukraine continues to face attacks, and its people, including those in the national football team, demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity.
