The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has introduced a new brand of altar wine, bearing the conference’s coat of arms and an official signature to certify its authenticity.

The move comes after the previous brand, distributed by a local alcohol manufacturer, became widely available in bars, hotels, and supermarkets.

The new wine, imported from South Africa, is only distributed to dioceses and not sold in business outlets.

Archbishop Anthony Muheria stated that the decision ensures the wine’s sanctity and purity.

The Catholic Church teaches that the wine used in Mass is transubstantiated into the blood of Jesus Christ.

The new wine’s label reads, “The fruit of the vine and the work of human hands will become our cup of joy.”

The introduction of the new wine has been welcomed by the Catholic faithful, who believe it preserves the sacredness of the Eucharist.
