Father Augustine Dauda Amadu, who served at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kenema, was found dead in his home on August 30th.

He was preparing to conclude his five-year tenure and transition to a new role at St. John Parish in Kailahun, within the same diocese.

Local reports indicate that unidentified attackers broke into the priest’s residence while he was alone. According to police, the assailants forced their way in through a broken window and stabbed Father Amadu to death.

It is not yet known if any items were taken from the property.

Parishioners became concerned when they noticed evidence of a break-in upon arriving for morning Mass and promptly alerted authorities.

The Kenema Diocese has shared its profound sadness, describing Father Amadu as a devoted and faithful spiritual leader.An active police investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far.
