Churches Together in England, in partnership with Christian agencies rooted in faith and justice, has launched a fresh call to prayer for peace in the Holy Land. The initiative coincides with the UN’s World Peace Day on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Partnering organizations include Christian Aid, Embrace the Middle East, Sabeel Kairos, All We Can, Quakers in Britain, Reconciling Leaders Network, and Difference.

The Most Rev. Hosam Naoum, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, has penned a special prayer for the occasion.

The prayer reads, “Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: In your mercy, provide for all those in Gaza and beyond who suffer from hunger and starvation, that they may be given both physical bread to nourish their bodies and heavenly bread to sustain their souls.”

The prayer concludes with a plea for: A speedy end to the war, Release of all captives, Care for the sick and wounded, Comfort for those who have lost loved ones and a pathway to just and lasting peace

This ecumenical initiative aims to bring together Christians across the UK in solidarity and shared witness, responding to the cries of Palestinian church leaders for peace and solidarity.
