The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF International), a Christian activist group, is pushing the US Supreme Court to overturn a ban on conversion therapy, a practice aimed at changing a person’s same-sex attraction or gender identity.

Currently, 27 states prohibit this therapy for minors, and major medical organizations warn it poses mental health risks, including depression and suicidal thoughts.

Kaley Chiles, a Colorado therapist represented by ADF, is challenging Colorado’s ban, citing her First Amendment right to free speech in her professional practice.

Chiles claims the law forces her to “censor herself” and turn away clients seeking conversion therapy.
