A shocking incident unfolded at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10, 2025, when conservative commentator and Trump ally Charlie Kirk was shot during a live, student-focused event.

The shooting occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time, roughly 20 minutes into Kirk’s remarks, with a single shot fired from the Losee Center building, approximately 200 yards away from the event area.

Kirk was shot in the neck and taken away immediately by his security personnel. His condition remains unclear, with reports indicating he might be in critical condition.

An older male was taken into police custody initially, but it’s been confirmed that he was not the shooter. The actual suspect remains at large, and authorities are investigating.

The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation, with campus officials and local law enforcement working to determine the motive behind the shooting.

Both Republican and Democratic leaders have condemned the violence, with President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and House Speaker Mike Johnson calling for prayers for Kirk’s recovery.

Democratic leaders, including Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and former US representative Gabby Giffords, have also expressed support.
