Jamaican sprinting legend Usain Bolt has spoken about the importance of his faith in his life, revealing that he continues to travel with his Bible and attributes his success on the track to God’s blessings.

In a recent interview with The Times, Bolt, 39, shared that his Christian upbringing has had a lasting impact on his life.

“I travel with my Bible. I still read it. I grew up as a Christian. It’s very important in my life,” he said.

Bolt, who was raised as a Seventh-day Adventist, converted to Catholicism and took the middle name Saint Leo in honor of an early Pope.

One of his twin sons is also named Saint Leo. Throughout his illustrious career, Bolt was often seen making the sign of the Cross and pointing heavenward before races, and he wears a Miraculous Medal as a symbol of protection and safeguarding.

The eight-time Olympic gold medalist believes that his athletic abilities are a gift from God. “I’m pretty blessed. I was given the time by God to run and compete,” he said.

Bolt retired from professional sprinting in 2017, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Despite his retirement, his faith remains an integral part of his life, and he continues to draw inspiration from his Bible.
