President Mnangagwa has touched down at the Vatican City, where he will engage in a private meeting with Pope Leo XIV. The talks are expected to center around enhancing collaboration between the Vatican and Zimbabwe on key socio-economic initiatives.
Upon arrival in Rome, President Mnangagwa was greeted by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the Vatican, Dr. Sekai Nzenza, and Ambassador to Italy, Mrs. Mietani Chauke, alongside Vatican officials and senior government representatives.
The presidential delegation, which includes Foreign Affairs Minister Professor Amon Murwira and Deputy Chief Secretary George Charamba, will discuss matters of mutual interest with the Pope.
Key areas of focus are likely to include the Catholic Church’s contributions to Zimbabwe’s development, particularly in education and healthcare.
The meeting also provides an opportunity for the two leaders to exchange views on pressing global issues and the Church’s role in promoting peace and stability worldwide.
